STUDENT GOVERNMENT ASSOCIATION VACANCIES FLYER

ARE YOU READY TO TAKE THE STUDENT GOVERNMENT
ASSOCIATION TO THE NEXT LEVEL?
VACANCIES ARE BEING FILLED NOW



There are currently thirteen (13) vacant officer positions as follows in the Student Government Association:

o   Corresponding Secretary (1)
o   Recording Secretary (1)
o   Senior Class Representative (2)
o   Junior Class Representative (3)
o   Sophomore Class President (1)
o   Sophomore Class Representative (3)
o   Freshman Class President (1)
o   Freshman Class Representative (1)

Criteria:
The following guidelines apply to a student that is holding office, whether by election, appointment, or ex-officio status in Student Government Association.  In the guidelines, credit hours refer to actual credit hours, and not equivalent or contact hours.  Position holders for a leadership position must be enrolled in a degree or credit bearing certificate program at Medgar Evers College and meet the following criteria:

A.          A student must be enrolled or planning to be enrolled in the Fall 2012 Session in order to be certified for the appointed position.
B.         Full time students must plan to carry a minimum of 12 credit hours.
C.         Part-time students must plan to carry a minimum of 6 credit hours.
D.         In order to serve each semester, a student must have completed and earned a passing grades in at least 50% of the credits for which they registered the prior semester (i.e. Spring 2012 Semester), but in no event less than 3 credits.
E.          Grade Point Average (GPA) requirements: 2.7 cumulative or better (Corresponding and Recording Secretaries) and 2.5 cumulative or better (Class Presidents & Class Representatives).  Each student member must have the minimum GPA.
F.          Those holding office must be clear of probationary status.

In addition, interested students should complete the Vacancy Declaration of Candidacy Form (attached to this email) and submit a letter of intent outlining leadership experience not exceeding 250 words; and have a desire to serve the student body and willingness to be a change agent.

The applications are due into the office of Student Life by July 16th, 2012.

Interviews will be conducted on July 18th, 2012 2pm-5pm and then again at 6pm-9pm.
